Miss Scarlett Cooks! Chocolate Kahlua Cake

Miss Scarlett here, bringing you Hobby Haven readers a cake to end all cakes. This is the most requested cake I make; and don't worry, you won't get drunk off of it! But if you're concerned about the alcohol, you can swap it out for coffee. The recipe is after the jump.

The Ingredients:

  • 1 box devil's food chocolate cake (without pudding added)
  • 1 box instant chocolate pudding**
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • 3/4 cup vegetable or canola oil
  • 1/3 cup Kahlua liqueur***
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
**Jell-O makes a dark chocolate pudding that I highly recommend. There's also a chocolate fudge flavor, too.
***You can sub other types of coffee liqueur or just straight espresso/suuuuuuper strong coffee instead.

The Tools:
  • An oven (as always, forever)
  • A bundt pan
  • Cooking spray
  • Mixing bowl
  • Mixing spoon

How to make it:
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees; grease a bundt pan.
  2. Mix all the ingredients together in a mixing bowl. Add chocolate chips if desired.
  3. Pour batter into pan and bake for 45 minutes.
  4. Cool completely. Add powdered sugar, chocolate ganache, or a mixture of 3 Tbsp Kahlua to a tsp or so each of powdered sugar and water (it should be syrupy in texture).
